THE PRACTICE OF

AGING WELL

By Eva Maurice My life changed in the Las Vegas airport.
I was waiting for a flight home when I learned that my son had won first place in his first-grade talent show. And I had missed it.
At the time, I was nearly twenty years into my career in sales and training. I loved the people and much of the work, but I didn’ t love how often my career took me away from home. Sitting in that airport, I realized that a life can look successful and no longer feel like it’ s the life you’ re meant to be living.
I wanted something different— for myself and for my son.
That decision eventually led me to study Spiritual Psychology. I found tremendous meaning in what I learned about consciousness, healing, forgiveness and our connection to something greater than ourselves.
But I also discovered something about myself: Inspiration wasn’ t enough. I needed a practice.
I needed practical tools that could hold me accountable on an ordinary Tuesday morning. That need became the foundation of my Four Body Method™, built around the four aspects of our human experience, the Spiritual, Mental, Physical and Emotional bodies.
Today, more than fifteen years into my private practice, I believe this matters even more as we age.
Because aging well isn’ t only about caring for the body that’ s changing. It’ s about continuing to nurture the mind, emotions and spirit of the person living inside it.
We already know many of the fundamentals of aging well: nourishment, sleep, movement, laughing, building community. The challenge isn’ t necessarily knowing more. It’ s creating daily practices that help us actually live what we know.
For my Spiritual Body, I begin each morning in meditation. Before the world gets my attention, I become still enough to connect with myself.
Then I immediately pick up my pen and nurture my Mental Body through journaling. The practices work together: first I become quiet enough to listen, then I empty my mind onto the page.
For my Physical Body, I move. Not simply to achieve a number on a scale or a desired outcome, but with intention— to release what no longer serves me and create space to welcome what I desire. Movement opens the door to manifesting.
For my Emotional Body, I end my day with gratitude. I identify one specific experience I’ m grateful for, acknowledge the person, or energy connected to it, and then ask: How did I help create or receive this experience, bringing the gratitude back to myself.
That final step develops something I call deserve-ability: recognizing that we aren’ t separate from the good in our lives. We participate in creating it.
These aren’ t practices I complete and check off a list. They are rituals I return to. And when I miss a day, I simply return again. I’ ve learned that transformation isn’ t built through perfection; it’ s built through awareness, good habits, and consistency.
This is more than a thirty-day challenge. It’ s a way of living.
The woman sitting in that Las Vegas airport couldn’ t have imagined the life ahead of her. Today, I have the privilege of sharing what I learned the hard way and being of service to others that are“ sitting in the airport” knowing something has to change.
I’ ve learned we don’ t have to know, we have to begin.
For me that means daily practice; meditation, journaling, movement, and gratitude.
One meditation. One page. One movement. One moment of gratitude. One day at a time.
That’ s what aging well looks like, not having all the answers, but remaining curious and having rituals that keep us connected to ourselves as we continue the journey.
